#12: Wigwam/Ultimax MTB Challenge
Evergreen Park ~ Sheboygan, WI
From The Director... The traditional finale of WORS, the Wigwam/Ultimax Mountain Bike Challenge, continues to be staged at Sheboygan's Jaycees' Quarryview and Evergreen Parks. This venue allows for the conveniences of a city, ample dining choices, showers, real bathrooms, and plenty of parking while allowing competitors to feel as though they are in the Wisconsin Northwoods. Last year's highly successful "Spectator Central" returns and promises to be even more festive with live music, concessions, and great race viewing. One moment you will be concentrating on a tight singletrack in the midst of pinewoods and suddenly you enter a spectator vantage-point where friendly cheers will pump up your adrenaline and push you forward. This course has a bit of everything: sand, gravel, asphalt, mud, grass, pine needles, roots, and the famous "Sheboygan Slickrock". The course is mostly single and double track. There is one steep downhill and one very steep climb, the "Equalizer". All riders will find a fun and challenging course awaiting them in Sheboygan. There are a number of incredible viewing areas all around the course, so bring your camera and get a shot of your favorite racers. The Wigwam/Ultimax Mountain Bike Challenge has again been selected for NORBA's AMBC (American Mountain Bike Challenge) race calendar. With AMBC status and WORS largest cash purse this race is likely to draw an exceptional elite field. WORS racers will also be able to use this event to qualify for the 2007 NORBA National Championships. You do not want to miss this event!. Come on Saturday for the pre-ride and stay for the FAT KATS night ride, (bring your lights).
The FAT KATS organization is a WORBA Chapter, based primarily out of Sheboygan. Check out the FAT KATS at www.fatkats.org. There is no on-site camping, so, for lodging and camping information, call the Sheboygan Chamber of Commerce at (800) 457-9497.
